AMAZING NEWS! We are delighted to report that after years of rehabilitation at our centre, six rescued orangutans have been returned to freedom in the Bornean rainforest. This incredible release operation was carried out in collaboration with the local forestry department and required strength and determination from everyone involved in making it possible. ORANGUTAN RESCUE! This dramatic footage was taken during the recent rescue of Riam, a young orangutan that was trapped in a fragmented area of land surrounded by roads and housing. Fires in 2015 destroyed most of the orangutan habitat in this region, forcing orangutans like Riam to search for food on farmland.
