What is Brutalism? It emerged after WWII, when architects needed to build fast, affordably, and honestly. The term béton brut — raw concrete — was coined by Le Corbusier, whose use of the material inspired a new architectural language. But Brutalism became more than exposed concrete. It was about truth — in structure, form, and material. A play of geometry, shadow, and weight.
